Softball Battles Weather as Well as Competition
Pomona-Pitzer softball is well into their season, having played four double-headers thus far. Most recently, the Sagehens were defeated by CMS and Whittier, and their game against Redlands was postponed due to rain.
While the Sagehens’ record sits at 2-6, they have lost three one-run games already this season, including a 6-5 loss to Whittier. If they can turn some of those close games around, they will find more success as the season rolls on.
The last few games notwithstanding, the Sagehens remain optimistic about turning things back their way.
“We’ve been working hard the last two weeks, and we’ve mixed up our practice schedule to try to benefit the most from our practices,” said Carolyn Cross PO ‘13
The team has also been forced to deal with the weather affecting their games. With the postponing of the Redlands game and delays in other games, Cross pointed out the importance of “maintaining focus despite the rain delays.”
With 60 days until the end of the softball season, the players have resolved to set five goals to follow until the end of season. The goals relate to school, relationships, life, health, and softball. Players commented that although each person has individual goals, this is something many members of the team are doing together.
This weekend, the Sagehens face Menlo College in a double-header Saturday, and follow that up on Sunday by traveling to Redlands.
