![]() Campaign 99, Clarify the PenaltyCampaign violations are a perennial blight upon the electoral process here at Pomona. Every year, with every election, there are new allegations of misdeeds on the campaign trail. We need to clear up the ambiguousness surrounding the penalties for violations and stress to candidates the importance of following the rules. [con't]
Freedom of the Press Not To Be AbusedOfficial school publications such as the college newspaper are established as forums for student expression and for open discussion. The medium should provide complete opportunity for students to question and exchange ideas, including those of a dissenting or controversial nature. But freedom of expression and press freedom are privileges, and we at TSL realize our tenuous position. [con't]
Social Drinkers, Not Social MisfitsThis letter is in response to an opinion of Josh Tulkin concerning the role of alcohol on campus and the inconvenience of wet grass (TSL, 9/24/99). Specifically, I was shocked by Tulkins assertion that "drinking for the sake of getting drunk is stupid and immature." When I read this, I considered my own experiences on this campus which might agree with this sentiment. For instance, I have met some people who, when drunk, have seemed to be stupid. I have also met students at Pomona who appeared, at the time, to be immature. [con't]
King of Beers Deserves Its TitleAs a native of St. Louis, Missouri, there are three things in this world that really anger me: people who complain about the heat in Los Angeles, people who dare mutter an unfavorable word about Willie McGee, and people who talk shit about Budweiser. Granted, in his whiny-wimpy excuse for an editorial, "Tuxedos, Alcohol Waste Money," Josh Tulkin only committed one of the above crimes, but he still managed to strike a nerve. [con't]
Friends of BFS Solicit Student AidEditor: The unidentified group in the article about BFS last issue is the Students for Bernard Field Station(SBFS). The Friends of the Bernard Biological Field Station(FBBFS)is a community group from which we have developed. We are dedicated to the preservation of the Field Station. Unfortunately, students hear heavily from KGIs propaganda campaign and misinformation from the Colleges administrations. [con't]
