Men's Basketball Plays First Home Game This Saturday

I got to work around 4:35 pm on Monday, but Felipa wasn’t there so I had to wait outside to get in. It was cold, but I have this great black poofy jacket I got at a LeRoy’s. It is so goddamn warm. Finally Felipa got there and mumbled something to me in Spanish that I didn’t understand. I had told her I spoke Spanish, which is a lie.

I thought we weren’t going to be very busy, so I brought some CDs to play. I had Bob Dylan (Desire), the new Belle and Sebastian (which seemed appropriate for a restaurant), and Stereolab (Dots and Loops). I played the Stereolab all night, and I think it worked well. I got thinking that there are at least three bands with the word “Stereo” in their name, which is confusing. At the end I put on Desire, which starts with “The Hurricane” because I was hoping to would get people moving out the door. Then I started vacuuming and that sort of pissed the last table off. Actually I forgot about the CD and left it playing in the stereo. When I got home, I tried to call Felipa to tell her, “Olvidé a apagar el stereo,” but she didn’t answer the phone.

My tips totaled about $40 overall, which is pretty okay. Maia is making me save them in a jar so we’ll have money for our Grand European Excursion after graduation. Probably just the two of us will go. We were thinking about inviting other friends, but there is no one either of us can tolerate for a sustained period of time...so we’re going to Greece and whatever countries are near Greece, maybe Macedonia if that is near Greece. We’ll probably do different things during the day, like I will lie by the pool and drink Manhattans while Maia goes to the art museum.

When I got back to my room, I had a message on my cell phone from this boy I met on friendster. Maia laughs at me for meeting people on the internet. Come to think of it, so do most people I tell about it, but I didn’t try to meet anyone. These boys just see my hot-ass pictures and come running. And since I’m lonely and unfulfilled, why would I tell them not to call me? He turned out to be funny and smart-sounding and we talked for a real long time, despite the fact I have so much homework. Like, a lot of homework.

My suitemate was loading a bowl with some friends when I got off the phone. Supposedly the weed she bought was engineered by the government for tests and shit. I looked at it. It was whitish with these weird little orange hairs, sort of. So we got pretty high and then had a few beers. I didn’t eat dinner, so it all hit me like a ton of bricks, and I had some leftover cake to calm down. By then, it was around 1 am. Everyone else was going strong, but I suddenly felt compelled to read this paper I have to present in my Bio class. I started reading it, but fell asleep before I got past the abstract.
