The women’s volleyball team started last week
3-5 and finished 4-6, after beating La Sierra on Thursday
and losing to La Verne on Friday. The Pomona-Pitzer
squad turned in an outstanding performance against La
Sierra on Thursday, winning three straight games to
take the match, 30-17, 30-17, and 30-23. But the Hens
struggled on Friday against nationally ranked La Verne,
losing the match in consecutive games, 26-30, 21-30,
and 24-30.

P-P Cross Country runs fast, looks hot
By Lauren Sauter

Pomona-Pitzer cross country runners
are looking good this season, and I am not just talking
about on the XC course. They look good drinking Gatorade,
they look good eating fruit, they look good at parties,
and they look good when I interview them (I’m
talking about you, Andy Barnette!).
Football Upsets
Eight Ranked Trinity College

As chants of “Overrated” rained down on
the Trinity College football team this past Saturday,
it was tempting to shout, “Underrated,”
at the Pomona-Pitzer football team. With a resounding
blow to the confidence and ranking of Trinity College,
the Sagehens pulled out a 35-31 victory in what D3football.com
called a “SCIAC Shocker.” The Sagehens knocked
off the formerly third ranked team in the country for
the most dramatic win this season. Head coach Roger
Caron called the game “the biggest upset in the
country this year, including Division I.”
Soccer Suffers Devastating
Loss to CMS

If any sport were to beat out cross
country for general attractiveness, it would be men’s
soccer. These boys are hot! I had the pleasure of witnessing
the men’s soccer team in action, in a tough and
sweaty game against the loathed CMS on Wednesday. Although
normally impassive and stoic, I found myself cheering
along with dozens of other students from Pomona and
Pitzer. What can I say? All those young men in blue
uniforms--it was inspiring.
