Senate Briefs

ASPC President Ari Greenberg opened with general announcements, including the fact that Pomona’s share of the Ataris tickets sold out in less than 30 minutes, and that Pomona-Pitzer had won their game against Trinity University this weekend. “Unbelievable! Insanity! Storming the field!” said Greenberg.

Frank Bedoya then presented information on Claremont Cash—a way to spend money at the laundry machines, vending machines, bookstores, and shops in The Village by swiping your student ID card. “You would no longer have to search for quarters at 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning,” declared Bedoya. Students can currently use Claremont Cash at the Coop Store, but the implementation of card-accessible vending machines and laundry machines will begin this fall in Mudd-Blaisdell, Walker, and Walton Commons.

Greenberg informed the senate of his recommendations for the Admissions Committee and Smith Campus Center Sub-Committee. Academic Affairs Commissioner Kyle Warneck explained the activities of the Student, Faculty, and Alumni Committees. Greenburg also announced his upcoming meeting with presidents from the other 5 Colleges and promised to speak about usage of the fields, the Leadership Conference, and Harwood Halloween. Unimportant questions about Harwood Halloween were silenced.

Environmental Affairs Commissioner Bowen Patterson decided she wanted to wait until the next meeting to discuss issues concerning the environment, and the meeting was adjourned.
