Farm Controversy Controversy

Editor,

I was surprised to see the headline of last issue's top story "Farm Adopts Controversial Rules." The rules recently ratified and displayed at the Farm are hardly controversial, and the article contains little in the way of any controversy. These rules were discussed and agreed on by both the students and administration, and were put in place to help keep the Farm a productive educational site for the entire Claremont community. There were no battles or disputes.

I am disappointed to feel as though the headline was formulated to attract attention to the issue. The Farm and the administration have put a lot of work into developing and strengthening a friendly and supportive relationship, and any past conflicts should be no reason to assume a consistent rift between the two.

I invite everyone on campus to visit the Farm, whether or not you have any experience in gardening or farming. Take the time to enjoy a few minutes outside and away from classrooms and dorm rooms and experience the beauty and abundance of nature right here on campus.

Peace,
Bowen Patterson
