SCHARZENEGGER?
The Arnold Scharzenegger gubernatorial campaign contacted
ASPC President Ari Greenberg with an interest in registering
students to vote, an appearance by Scharzenegger is
a possibility.
STUDENT COMMITTEE TROUBLES
Due to the low number of applicants for student committees,
Greenberg did not feel comfortable making committee
appointments. Thus, a decision was reached by Senators
to sit outside of Frank and Frary dining halls to promote
student committees between Thursday to Tuesday.
SCC
ASPC has been given the responsibility of advising on
the $15,000 allocated to improve the Smith Campus Center.
A motion was made to create a committee to decide what
to do with the money. The committee will establish priorities
for the SCC, including short-range goals such as new
furniture and long-range plans such as how the building's
basement will be used when it is returned to students.
The committee will consist of eight students as well
as Campus Center Director Neil Gerard and Dean of Students
Ann Quinley, a senator will chair. Senators discussed
what classes would be represented on the committee.
STUDENT SUMMER INVESTMENT FUND
A proposal for the Student Summer Investment Fund was
distributed to senators. Ari Greenberg, Senior Class
President Jacqueline Wong-Hernandez, and Kyle Warneck,
had presented the proposal to Oxtoby, and he had agreed
in principle.
SPEAKER FUND
Senators then discussed the Environmental Speaker Series,
which is scheduled for November. Michael Moore, who
will be coming to Pomona, will cost the ASPC $5,000,
leaving $22,000 in the speaker fund. Other expenses
for the speaker fund may include Margaret Cho and Chris
Rock. Academic Affairs Commissioner Kyle Warneck questioned
whether this money needed to come from the speaker fund
and he moved to delegate $8,000 from the speaker fund
to the environmental Speaker Series.

McKenna College for The Ataris when they play at Big
