The Pomona College Department of Financial Aid is housed in Alexander Hall. A committee will be reviewing the department's policies at the request of the Board of Trustees as part of a regularly scheduled review.

Trustee Committee Reviews Aid Policy

This semester, as part of a periodic review of college policy, the Pomona College Board of Trustees has convened a committee to study and recommend changes to Pomona's financial aid policy. All of the members involved came away with a sense of how different Pomona's approach to financial aid is.


Oxtoby Visits, Plans July Arrival

Dr. David Oxtoby, selected as Pomona's ninth president over a month ago, is wasting no time in getting to know Pomona and its surrounding community.

Oxtoby has made the flight from Chicago to Pomona's campus three times since being selected; two official visits and one informal trip to research schools in the surrounding area for his two school-aged children.


Pomona Escapes Irvine Grant Controversy Facing CMC

In the summer of 2002, Pomona received a grant of $850,000 to enhance its diversity from James Irvine Foundation. The foundation is a private, nonprofit grant-making organization dedicated to enriching the social, economic, and physical quality of life throughout California. Unlike the $750,000 Irvine Grant received by CMC last month, Pomona's grant is neither controversial nor is it accused of being affirmative action.


Report Says Universities Fuel Local Economy

March 11, Cambridge, Mass.- In an effort to dispel the idea that tax-exempt, land-eating universities rob towns of their rightful revenue, Harvard University and seven other area schools will release a report today declaring that Boston-area research universities pump more than 7.4 billion dollars into the regional economy each year.
