Fire Forces Evacuation of Mount Baldy Students

At least five Pomona students and an unknown number of students from the rest of the five-college community are temporarily homeless as a result of the Williams fire evacuations.

WASC Criticizes Pomona

In a letter addressed to President Peter W. Stanley, the WASC’s Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities insisted that the College’s reputation and financial resources did not absolve “Pomona from the responsibility to review itself critically, particularly its effectiveness, and undertake improvements based on its own internal systems of quality review and enhancement.”

Pomona Honors Academic Merit, Diligent Study

On Monday evening Pomona celebrated its annual Awards and Scholars’ Banquet and Summer Research Poster Conference, a dinner intended to honor the accomplishments of those students who have distinguished themselves in the last year. Though the majority of honorees were Pomona students, the rest of the five-college community was also represented.

Tuesday's Vote Decides Three Senate Positions, Forces Three Run-Offs

Cory Forsyth ’03 won a majority to defeat Duke Gray ’03 for North Campus Representative. Samuel Gaines ’03 beat out Severine Fleming ’04 for Off-Campus Representative. Tanya Languerre ’03 ran uncontested and was confirmed the winner for Communications Commissioner Tuesday. In all other races, none of the candidates received the 51% majority needed to avoid a runoff.
