John Robert Purvis
April 18, 1979 - September 6, 2002
On Friday, September 6, John Purvis took his own life in a car crash. John was twenty three years old, a Senior who entered Pomona College in the fall of 1998. He left behind a note, of which this is a partial transcription:

"I want to thank all of you who tried to make life worthwhile for me. Sorry it couldn't work out.
"So in closing, I simply ask that all of you do what I could not: live life. And whatever you think of my choice, remember this: I am beyond suffering now. Love, John."
