Racial Profiling Does Not Prevent Terrorism
By JUSTIN DURIVAGE

Following the attacks on The World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the media and politicians have expressed much concern about preventing the racial profiling of Americans of Middle-Eastern decent. This extremely important issue should not leave the public’s consciousness as the United States continues to fight terrorism.

Dirty Old South Actually Boasts a Thriving Economy Built Upon a Progressive Culture
By JOSHUA TREMBLAY & JANICE KANG
Business Manager & Opinions Editor

t has been said by many a disgruntled old man that "The South will rise again!" Indeed, the South is rising, but not by the rebel yell of a rifle-toting Johnny Reb confederate soldier. Students Must Speak Out Against Use of Queer-Phobic Language
By CHRISTINA ELMORE
Contributing Writer

At 1:30 a.m. on November 1, 2001, while I was in my room in the Harwood tower closest to Mudd-Blaisdell dorm, I heard three to five male voices yelling loudly from an area directly below my window. Their speech included frequent queer-phobic slurs like "fag" and "big faggot." For five to ten minutes they continued, also yelling things like "what are you doing in there — having lots of anal sex?"

Freshmen Should Consider Sub-Free Housing Decision Carefully
By ROBIN STARR
Opinions Associate

This year, my living situation is very different from last year. My freshman year was spent in Lyon, where any weekend night, and usually during weeknights, a party could easily be found. This year, on the other hand, I occupy a room in second floor Blaisdell, deep in the realm of substance-free. Although I have little trouble with the idea of not having alcohol or drugs in the dorm, there are definitely some things that are less than ideal about living in substance-free.

Campus Workers Deserve Respect
By LIZ RODRIGUEZ
Managing Editor

It seems like everybody has something to complain about when it comes to Pomona. In the midst of all that complaining, however, there are usually not many people appreciating how incredibly pampered we are here, and that’s why I want to praise some of the Pomona staff that doesn’t usually get much thanks.
