One of the biggest parties of the year, the Harwood Halloween after-party, generated a huge mess for cleanup crews Sunday morning.The event drew upwards of 2,000 students and members of the community to Harwood Courtyard, began when Breakestra and People Under the Stairs concluded their concert on North Campus. The music, which was provided by DJ Lifestyle ’01, was not loud enough to be shut down by the Claremont Police Department, as in past years. The party ended at 1 am, the latest a Harwood Halloween after-party has gone in recent memory.

Pomona’s annual Harwood Halloween concert and party featured the funk band Breakestra and the hip-hop group People Under the Stairs. The groups performed in the courtyard area between Walker and Clark dorms. The after-party took place in the Harwood courtyard.

Three Arrested, One Tazed, Pepper Sprayed

Harwood Halloween festivities for about twenty Clark I party-goers ended abruptly Sunday morning with the arrival of four police officers who promptly arrested three individuals for three unrelated incidents, pepper spraying and repeatedly tazing a Pomona student in the process.

Phi Delta Attempts Comeback

After three years of banishment from campus, the once controversial Phi Delta fraternity is seeking a new role in the Pomona community. On Tuesday, October 30, Dean of Students Ann Quinley confirmed receiving a letter from Daniel Tan ’02, president of the Phi Delta fraternity, requesting that Phi Delta be reinstated on-campus.

Tree Falls, Echoes Tragedy From Three Years Ago

College and Claremont residents received a scare about 10 pm on Tuesday October 23 when large tree branches fell at the corner of Eighth Street and College Avenue, bringing down power lines and knocking out electricity for several hours in the city of Claremont.
