Approval of Minutes
The Senate meeting began with the approval of last weeks minutes and the minutes from an emergency meeting held regarding budget issues and study abroad.
New Meeting Time
ASPC President Jake Oken-Berg 02 announced that the meeting time for the Senate would be changed to Monday at noon. Since that presents a time crunch for members with classes at 1:15 pm, Oken-Berg said that more important issues would be frontloaded to the beginning of the meeting so that all senators could take part in those decisions. Tuesday at noon is an extra time set aside for emergency issues, should the need ever arise.
Elections
Senators signed up for times to sit at voting tables in Frary and Frank dining halls to assist with elections. Students could also vote at the ASPC office.
Committee Nominations
Jed Stiglitz 02 and Andrea Fang 02 were nominated for the Academic Affairs committee. Anna Moore 02 was nominated for the Student/Alumni Relations committee. All three nominations were passed unanimously.
Speaker Program
Communications Commissioner Dru Hilty 02 announced in person that she is looking to form a committee to review the student nominations for a speaker. She will send a digester to attract students to join.
Budget Requests
The womens soccer team asked for funding for four kegs for their party Saturday, October 6. The senate agreed to fund three kegs, and ASPC Vice President Michio Brunner 02 motioned to give the soccer stud-muffettes $180. The motion passed unanimously.
KSA, NSU, and CSA are also planning a Bust-A-Move party for Saturday, October 6. They requested $120 for two kegs, and the senate passed the motion unanimously.
A new wine-tasting club is planning its first event for October 11 and has requested $150 for seven to eight bottles of wine. As it is the clubs first event, the senate agreed to fund $70 for wine.
