Terrorist Attack Strikes New York, D.C.

On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, at 8:45 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston, under the control of terrorist hijackers, crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.

Campus Grieves over Tragedy

Students awoke on Wednesday morning to see Walker Wall painted black from end to end, in remembrance of those who died in Tuesday morning’s terrorist attack.

Student Forums Address Attack

Within hours of Tuesday morning’s attack, Dean of Students Ann Quinley sent out a message informing students that there would be five campus-wide forums later that night where students, faculty, and administration could gather to talk about their emotions and reactions to the tragedy.

The college administration reacted swiftly on Tuesday morning to news of attacks on American cities. President Stanley released a statement to students by e-mail and posted on the Pomona College website (http://www.pomona.edu) addressing the disaster.
