Correction

In the April 6 article "Pitzer Food Service Workers Unionize" the Pomona dining hall worker election last August was not NLRB (as reported). The workers were surveyed by the American Arbitration Association and monitored by a chaplain from the Claremont Colleges.

In the April 13 article, "Environmental Analysis Program Is Approved," the caption stated that Rick Hazlett is the head of the EA program, but Rick Elderkin and Gene Fowler are the Program Coordinators.


Protestors Dispute Sanctions

In connection with their participation in recent protests, thirteen students have been tried and sanctioned in the past week for charges of failing to comply with a college official and inhibiting the regular business of the college.

Student Diagnosed With Meningitis

Fear of contracting meningoccocal meningitis brought over 230 students to Baxter Medical Center throughout this week, all of whom received consultation about whether or not they needed to receive an antibiotic to prevent contracting this bacterial infection.

A proposal for revision of the current Pomona College demonstration policy, marked with notes suggesting the explicit inclusion of the CEO of the Claremont University Consortium in a section previously referring only to college presidents, was delivered to The Student Life on Wednesday by a source wishing to remain unidentified.

    Colleges To Decide on Future Power Plans

    Next week, the business and finance officers of the Claremont Colleges will meet to discuss continuing participation in Southern California Edison’s interruptible power program. Under the program, the colleges receive discounted electricity in exchange for agreeing to have their power curtailed during periods of high demand.

    AARC Assistant Director Leaving

    Assistant Director of the Asian American Resource Center Sunny Lee will not be returning to Pomona next year. Lee, who has worked here since 1999, has accepted a position as Assistant Director of the Cross-Cultural Center at the University of California at Irvine (UCI).
