Students Evacuated in Fire; Cause Unknown

Clark I residents rushed to evacuate shortly before 7:00 am Thursday morning when a fire broke out in room 111, triggering fire alarms and spilling flames into the dorm’s northwest corner.

Oken-Berg Elected Student Body President

In a year of exceptionally high voter turnout, Thursday’s run-off elections declared Jake Oken-Berg ’02 next year’s ASPC President. Cristina Francisco ’02 was elected Senior Class President.

Gary Kates Named New Dean of College

Professor of History at Trinity College Gary Kates has been selected as the new Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Pomona.

Environmental Analysis Program Is Approved

During its meeting last Friday, the Pomona College faculty unanimously approved the Environmental Analysis (EA) program. The program, which will be available next fall, will consist of both a major and a minor.

Assistant Director of SCC Crisp-Sears To Leave

Assistant Director of the Campus Center Angela Crisp-Sears will not be returning to Pomona next year. Crisp-Sears, who supervises CCLA and all ASPC programming as well as Metate, the Pomona College yearbook, will be moving to North Carolina.
