I am writing in regards to the half page ad you ran in last week’s paper offering an $80,000 bounty for a 5’9", Caucasian, "Special Egg Donor," with an SAT score over 1250. Frankly I was disturbed by both the tone of the ad and the fact that TSL chose to run it. I support the right of any woman to administer her body as she sees fit, and in her own best interest, and I do not oppose infertile couples seeking egg donors. I do however oppose racism, and its ensuing genetic quackery. Pomona College claims to be an institution that values diversity and I feel running an ad by people seeking to create what they percieve will be a genetically superior white child is highly counter-productive to the College’s values. People ought to be valued because they are human beings, not because they are white, or taller than 5’9", or score highly on SATs. People also ought to value their children for more than just the color of their skin or their academic, athletic, and artistic achievements. Shame on TSL for allowing its pages to be polluted by these rich bastards’ racism and egoism. I would have much rather had another article about sippin’ 40s or ’80s hair metal bands.
