Women’s Basketball Upsets CMS In Thiller
By Conor Gallogly
Sports Editor

From start to finish the Pomona-Pitzer women’s basketball team showed they would not be intimidated, would not be out-hustled, and would not be embarrassed on their home floor. No matter that CMS had previously routed them 60-44, that CMS led the SCIAC standings, or that the Sagehens entered the game with a two-game losing streak.

P-P Women’s Lacrosse Starts Season On Roll
By Jeff Horwitz
Sports Associate

It didn’t feel much like the fourth day of February when the Sagehen women’s lacrosse team hosted University of San Diego for their league opener the Sunday before last. Neither team was prepared for Sunday’s heat, and players from both teams looked flushed by the first timeout. However, the Sagehen defenders managed to stay cool, as most of the first half was played around the USD goal. In the opening 20 minutes, the Sagehens scored three unanswered goals on the way to a 6-2 halftime lead.

Great All-Star Game, Disappointing Weekend
By David Park

I whispered these over and over. Accept it, I said. It’s a fact.

By Tim McEvoy
Contributing Writer

The Pomona-Pitzer men’s golf team opened their SCIAC season with a win over the much-feared Cal-Tech Beavers, with a score of 311-375. It was not the playing ability of the Cal-Tech squad that worried the team, but rather their lack thereof. As player Ben Hochstein ’04 put it, "It is hard to focus on your own game when the guys you are playing with are so bad"..

Chapman Sinks Sagehen Baseball

In our quiet vista we call Claremont, it is not often that celebrities come to town, parading in with their rakish smiles and expensive drug habits. Now, I do not mean bona fide, "pa, get your camera!" sort of celebrities. Not like Gary Coleman or whoever it is that runs Taco Bell. But celebrities, nonetheless.

P-P Tennis Resists Rain
By Adam Goldwyn
Sports Associate

he World Tennis Tournament (WTT) was held right in our own backyard last weekend. Originally intended to be a two-day tournament, the first day of competition was cancelled due to so-called "inclement weather." That is the fancy term for what the rest of us call "rain."
