Vagina Monologues Address Women’s Issues, Genitals
By Liz Rodriguez &
Staff Writer

V-Week is a weeklong dedication to raising awareness of violence against all women. This year, Edie plans to have one activity on each of five consecutive days. On Monday, February 12, Edie is helping to organize an art show at Pitzer. She asked the 5-College community to respond and contribute art or poetry that dealt with issues of violence against women. Love Is Like a Bottle of Gin, But a Bottle of Gin Is Not Like Love
By Bethany Kibler
Arts & Features Associate

HA! If love is anything, it is not simple. In popular culture, (Shakespeare and Britney included) love is one of the most frequently, and the most unconvincingly, presented feelings out there. It can be the blanket excuse for an entire movie’s worth of stupid actions. It can heal all wounds, or it can make you die. More

This Is Not Your Parents’ Competitive Urinating
By Kyle Beachy
Arts & Features Associate

Everybody knows that if you want to be cool, you’ve got to be extreme. Sure, it’s not bad to be a jock, hippie, nerd, or even a DJ. But as the media makes painfully obvious, if you want to have all the friends, get laid every night, and make the loot, you gotta be extreme. Feel me? More

Bizzaro Will, Bizarro Will, Rock You
By Aidan Doherty
Production Associate

A crowd of enthusiastic students crammed into cottage 629 last Friday to see the Groundhog Day debut of Bizarro Will, Pomona’s newest rock ‘n’ roll band. The band, consisting of four Pomona sophomores, had the crowd in the palm of their hands from the very beginning of the night, playing sports arena favorite "Rock ‘n’ Roll," by Gary Glitter. Hands were clapping, feet were stomping, and long after the Listerine-shaped bottles of Lucky’s grocery brand gin and vodka were emptied, the crowd stayed on to hear a second set of classic-style rock originals from Bizarro Will. Who Does Not Love Phil Collins? Heathens!
By John Matson
Arts & Features Associate

Back in the 70’s, when I was growing up, everything was different. The ladies wore those real short shorts, hijinks involving the local sheriff never resulted in much trouble, and people still got into their cars through the window. Most of all, though, the music was different. Rock was huge; it was inescapable. You didn’t have to go down to some hole-in-the-wall club to find a real rock’n’roll show; chances are, there was one going on over at your local fairgrounds or speedway. More

Eatin' with Epi-Curious: Chili’s Grill & Bar

Chili’s is either an upscale fast-food restaurant or a moderately-priced restaurant chain, perhaps both. The local store is located on Indian Hill Boulevard, just south of the 10 freeway. There is a small bar area surrounded by a dining area, which is also small. As noted in their never-ending TV ads, they feature items like boneless buffalo wings, lettuce wraps, fajitas, burgers, ribs and their famous Awesome Blossom. FYI: it’s true, they’re Awesome! More
