Mamma, I'm Comin' Home, to Lose
The world is made up of great rivalries. Athens versus Sparta. Day versus night. The Catholic Church versus science. Saturday's homecoming game would have a tough time living up to those great battles of yesteryear. Go to article

Frisbee Golf, Free Fun for Hungover Hens
It was a few Sundays ago that some friends and I sat in our usual day of rest daze, blankly staring at whatever sporadically visible football game was on the tube. Frustrated with the crappy reception, I decided to spark some sort of change. Go to article

Presidential Election Coverage Transforms Democracy Into Monday Night Football
The first thing I noticed about this year's presidential election coverage was not its emphasis on closeness of the race, but its similarity to a bad NFL pregame show. Go to article

Sweat Shops Better Than Alternative
I would like to respond to Lara Gluck's letter published in the November 3, 2000 issue of TSL. While I agree that the working conditions in many developing countries are horrendous, I do not believe that boycotting companies that make profits off these terrible work conditions is the best solution Go to letter

Sagehen Not Extinct Like Dodo
My daughter, class of '03, has alerted me to the fact that there is a common misconception rampant in the Pomona College community that sage hens are extinct. I am a professor of wildlife resources at the University of Idaho, and am an expert on sage hens. Go to letter
