
Opinion Doesn't Belong in News
The news section of a reputable newspaper must endeavor to deliver articles that are well researched and informative, and the appearance of bias must be avoided at all costs. In last week's The Student Life, News Editor Conor Friedersdorf '02 wrote a news article and an opinions article on the Reform Party presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan's visit to CMC's Pickford Auditorium.

Election Correction Objections
Well, Election Day has come and gone, and as of Thursday morning, we as a nation still do not know who will be our 43rd president. Many of us have spent hours watching or listening to media coverage, tiredly waiting for Florida's electoral votes to tip the scale towards either Al Gore or George W. Bush.

Sweat Shops Better Than Alternative
I would like to respond to Lara Gluck's letter published in the November 3, 2000 issue of TSL. While I agree that the working conditions in many developing countries are horrendous, I do not believe that boycotting companies that make profits off these terrible work conditions is the best solution.

Keep Your Opinions Out of My News
After having read The Student Life for three years now, I am saddened by Conor Friedersdorf's story "Pat Buchanan Speaks at CMC" and his disregard of the facts of the incident. I was at the Buchanan speech and participated in the protests that occured following his speech.
