The Pomona-Pitzer baseball teams offense got hot last week, bombarding opponents with runs to win three straight. The Sagehens, who played one game against Chapman and took two from Menlo, won by an average margin of seven points, bringing their overall record to 17-13. They resume conference play against La Verne today.

That, right there, is a lead sentence that could have been written at almost any time over the last few years. What makes this week a particularly rough one for the Clippers is that Americas greatest employer of ex-high school football players with word processing skills, Sports Illustrated, has decided to put the Clippers on the cover.

With their imposing record and imposing players who are far larger than life, the Women Sagehens are routinely able to send the opposing teams across the net into a series of scared whimpers and snorts. Unfortunately the Women Hens were unable to utilize their usual intimidation tactics this past weekend against UCSD and Trinity, the top ranked teams in the region.
