Community Affairs

Commissioner of Community Affairs Janelle Lin ‘00 announced that the Professor Service Auction will take place March 9 during snack. She encouraged the senators to come up with a service they can provide for the auction. All proceeds will go to a charity called Reach For The Stars.

Ski and Beach Day

North Campus Representative Robi Ganguly ‘00 reported that 71 people have signed up for Ski and Beach Day, which will take place on March 26.

CCLA Events

Commissioner of Campus Events Tamara Chellam ‘00 announced a Mafia Party which is being C-sponsored by KD. Chellam also informed Senate about theon-going discussion within CCLA of co-sponsoring events with the fraternities. Also, CCLA will fund Sports Commissioner Dan Silberstein ‘00 up to $1,200 for his paintball trip.

ARAMARK

Commissioner of Residence Halls and Food Sam Brenner ‘02 talked about the smaller selection at Frary is because Aramark is focusing on exhibition cooking, and will be doing that a few times a week.

Environment

Commissioner of Environmental Affairs Aaron Ginoza ‘02 spoke about the Biotech conference. He is also working on bringing a non profit group to Pomona for an environmental justice workshop.

Academic Affairs

Academic Affairs Commissioner Sarah Jackel ‘01 reported about a proposal that students be allowed to take up to one semester credit worth of cumulative and half-credit courses each, while maintaining the two semester credit cap toward graduation.

Liquor Licence

The Claremont City Council decided to review the college’s application for a liquor license.

The Student Life

There was a discussion about the relationship between itself and The Student Life. The Senate recommended that Communications Cordinator Emeka Okereke ‘00 ensure that the Print Media Committee be up and running; the Print Media Committee is in directly in charge of all printed media.

Senate Aide

A new Senate Aide, Cristina Francisco ‘02 was appointed.

Club Visits

Each senator is responsible for visiting two clubs and listening to any questions or concerns of the club members. Some senators have already done so, and the rest of the senators will be doing so in the following weeks.
